Inspired by King David The Builder’s coin - on loan from British Museum for #UKGeorgia2019 - British Council young learners designed new coins symbolising UK-Georgia friendship. This is the only remaining coin with the image of King David the Builder that was minted during his reign (1089-1125).
The competition was for students aged up to 17 years old. As result 12 works were selected, and 12 winners were awarded by Justin McKenzie Smith hosting them at the British Embassy.
Moreover, the 12 best designs and quotes from the students who made them were compiled in one calendar, specially dedicated to the UK/Georgia Season.
THE UK SEASON IN GEORGIA IS A CAREFULLY CURATED PROGRAMME OF 60+ EVENTS OVER THREE MONTHS. THE SEASON WILL RUN FROM SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER 2019 AND WILL INCLUDE EVENTS IN TBILISI, BATUMI, KUTAISI AND OTHER LOCATIONS ACROSS GEORGIA.
